Wow! Where to start! The rush of so many thoughts, ideas, and opportunities is daunting. Just the time it takes to contemplate choices might be spent making something happen. Are you the kind of person who wants to see results? To feel the reflected glow of satisfaction that something you envisioned, or something you intuited, or something you caught as a vague faint voice, eventually became manifest? Yes! The pleasure of making things happen that change the world in some tiny or huge way motivates me, for sure.
I seek to understand why people do what they do. My angle on this is to understand how people experience ‘meaning’ and how that meaning becomes more complex. How do our minds and bodies change as our experiences become systemically more enriched?
I am particularly interested in how ideas take palpable form. How does an event become a starting point? How does a notion become an actuality? How does an inclination become a path? My own path always seems to involve creating ‘something from nothing’, so part of my fascination with this process is personal. But it is also shared. I get a vicarious thrill when someone births a new element. It happens on a small scale all the time. It could happen more on a large scale as well– if we learn what to look for.
I am educated in the field of Human Development (having a couple of doctorates in my back pocket) so this is not a sideline for me. Thinking about human potential gives me a high. It is deeply meaningful as well as fun.
OK. Maybe I’ve got your attention with the title of the Blog: Worth Developing. This is a packed phrase for me. Here I will present ideas that I think might be worth developing – possibly helping us to explore corners of our human domain that have been neglected. This blog is an effort to capture errant ideas that would otherwise wander off into the mental wilderness. If coaxed to stay, perhaps they would grow and flourish. I seek to nurture them, at least a little, so they have a chance to develop their individual personalities.
